Ah, unlimited food. The portions are always just enough…to make you feel like you’re going to explode (unless you have much more self-control than I do). For lunch last Friday, I re-convened with my friend Michael and we ate enough that we didn’t need to eat for another 24 hours.
Emoji review: 🍞🍚🍰🍖🍗 + 🍞🍚🍰🍖🍗 + 🍞🍚🍰🍖🍗 = 😂👌
Apparently on Yelp, Dimassi’s has been taking quite a hit in the ratings, mostly by people who want to be served and who are disappointed in the vegetables and fish. I reply to those people: Don’t blame the restaurant for your bad decisions in life.
- It’s nice to go to a restaurant and get your food without talking to anyone until checkout sometimes, especially when you intend to shovel plate after plate after plate of food into your gaping maw. Don’t you look at me, judgmental employee! I want a full plate of gyro meat and I don’t want your questioning eyes making me feel bad about it. It’s my cheat day!
- Of course you’re paying too much if you choose to go to a buffet and eat only vegetables. The vegetables exist to fill you up so you don’t eat all the meat, which is what actually costs money.
Don’t expect to be served and make sure you eat the tasty meats available, and you’ll love Dimassi’s. The “fahita” chicken is delicious. The gyro meat is gyro meat – I don’t think I’ve had a bad gyro in my life. All the other chicken options were good. And then you can wrap ’em up in as many pitas as you want. UNLIMITED GYROS! And the baklava at the end is amazing. I stopped at a mere four helpings, though I was tempted to take them up on their “to go” option of grabbing whatever food you want for $6.99/lb and just taking their tray of it.
Michael’s review of his buffet experience: “The potatoes were great. I regret not making a gyro because the [“fahita”] chicken was really good.”
The seating is open, so if you need a little cubbyhole to get romantic or have private conversations…again, don’t eat at a buffet. Dimassi’s can provide lots of different foods because they’re not staffing the dining room with people serving you all the time. Besides, having those extra dishes that you’ve already cleared is a good reminder of just how far you’ve come in this meal. And it can also let you know when you should probably walk the whole way home to start to make up for what you’ve done.
