Papa Murphy’s (Irving, TX)

Papa Murphy’s is a huge chain of take-and-bake pizzas. My folks and I used to order pizzas from there fairly regularly as they were affordable, big pies and they tasted pretty good.

The prices have gone up in recent years, but for people who follow them on social media, they’ve had quite a few instances recently where they’ve offered 50% off your order if you use a promo code – if you tell me food is 50% off, I’m automatically interested in buying some.

So I’ve been ordering a few times at Papa Murphy’s, which makes remarkably calorie-dense stuffed pizzas (pictured), which have the crust topped with a pizza, then another crust, and a few more toppings on top. One-sixteenth of a family sized pizza is considered a serving size and provides 450 calories. So you can either eat a whole pizza for a mere 7200 calories or you can get a couple at a time and have dinner taken care of for a family for a few days. We chose the latter.

The Irving store has been really empty every time I go – the last time, the worker was in the back and my pizzas were the only ones waiting. Now, I go at slightly off-times so I don’t have to deal with traffic on Belt Line, but I’m always worried about businesses that aren’t even all that busy when they’re selling food at 50% off. The place was clean, the people were nice…it was just empty, a far cry from the popular place of my youth. So if you see a 50% off deal online, USE IT. I need those gigantic, inexpensive, tasty pizzas in my life.
