On our last full day in Colorado (let’s not pretend that waking up at 6 a.m. to get on the road back to Texas counts as any time spent in the state), we finally ventured into downtown Pagosa Springs. That’s where we discovered the downtown sulphur scent from the hot springs and that you really wouldn’t want to hang out in certain spots (again, no threat of crime…just that smell).
Upwind of that area a bit was Riff Raff Brewing Company.
Since all the local teams were ditching town for my birthday weekend in 2016, we decided to head to Frisco a weekend early to see a Roughriders game. The $9 tickets made it an appealing option, as did the $5 parking.
First things first: This was supposed to be a review of Dutch’s. I had occasion to go to Forth Worth twice since moving to the DFW area. I got free tickets (as a veteran) to the Armed Forces Bowl primarily to eat pre-game at Dutch’s, the winner of the DFW.com 2015 Burger Battle. When we got there, the restaurant was closed for the week for repairs or upgrades or some other reason that did not satisfy my hunger. You can’t eat an “I’m sorry, we’re not open” sign, Dutch’s!
I then had another opportunity to go this week, but ended up at Rodeo Goat, the winner of the same competition in 2014 and the People’s Champ in 2015. It was closer to where I was, after all.
